Finger Paint Makeup Package – Before & After Pics!

24 Jun

Hey Everyone!  Woo…long time no talk.  Things have been a little hectic, but in a good way!  My husband, dog and I moved a few months back, and plan on moving again in the Fall (staying in Chucktown of course).  Wedding season has been busy busy, and I’ve loved every minute of it!  Even though I’ve been doing makeup for over 15 years now, I’ve finished up my first official year in business as FPM and am so incredibly pleased and grateful with the outcome!

…and OH!  I’m pregnant!!  There’s some big news for you!  We are thrilled and cannot wait for what’s to come!

I have been dying to blog now for months, but I honestly had a terrible case of writer’s block woe’s.  I’d come up with ideas at the most random moments, then I’d sit at my computer and POOF, they were gone.  Does that ever happen to you?  Anywho…here I am, I’m back and I sure hope I can keep the writing motivation going!

Ok enough of that!  Let’s talk makeup!  I recently did a Finger Paint Makeup Package  for my lovely client, Jenny.  This is the largest package that I offer!  I also like to call it “FPM MAKEUP OVERHAUL EXTRAVAGANZA”.  Here is the basic breakdown of what’s offered with the package, and then we’ll get to the pictures…(I love me some before and after’s!)

Consultation:  We chat about all things makeup related.  We pull makeup photos that you like and I learn about some basic details regarding your makeup routine.  The primary goal here is to find out your makeup comfort level and what fits into your lifestyle.  Ultimately, we determine what’s going to make you feel amazing in your own skin.

Makeup Bag Makeover:  Turn that makeup bag upside down and we will dissect its contents.  We’ll determine what works for you and what doesn’t.  We’ll also discuss sanitation tips and how long you should really hang on to that favorite face powder.

Face Templates:  We will put together some beautiful, easy customized looks!  Based on everything we’ve learned during your consultation, I’ll determine the right colors for you and we’ll come up with some great new looks.

Shopping List:  Based on our face templates, your budget and what you already own, I put together a list of products recommended for purchase.  This will make it easy for you to make a quick dash by a makeup counter and say “I need this product in this color”…..aaaaand…DONE.

Makeup Training and Professional Makeover:  We’ll finish all this up with a makeover and training.  I will show you step by step how to create one of the looks on your face templates.  We will cover everything, from ‘how do I apply my foundation?’ to ‘how do I accentuate my jaw line and cheek bones?’ to some fancy but EASY eye shadow application techniques…and much more.

Phew!  That’s it!  There is a lot to this package, but it really is a full makeup overhaul and gives you that “YES, I feel like me again…and damn, I look good” mentality to walk away from me with.  That’s really all I want for my clients.

Okay, now for some pictures so you can see what all this looks like!

World, here’s Jenny.  Jenny is absolutely gorgeous.  She has incredible bone structure, not to mention eyes that truly sparkle.  Our goal was to emphasize those features, so we focused on face contouring utilizing bronzer’s and highlighters and made her eyes the focal point.  She is a career woman and wanted a fresh, pulled together look that could take her from day to night.

Above is the consultation form…and below we are creating face templates for Jenny to reference at home.  We reviewed all the steps and techniques needed to duplicate the look.

Here we are starting our FPM Professional Makeover with a fresh clean slate…

As promised, a before and after pic below!  What do you think?

Makeup Bag Makeover

Hi Everyone! Check out this post by Mackenzie Image Consulting.

Ramblings of a client consultation – Success over Mother’s Day

We at MIC don’t usually toot our own horn, but when we received an email from Alesya, of Alesya Bags, we couldn’t resist sharing! We rarely get a chance to showcase client consults due to confidentiality reasons so we’re fortunate to have permission to share this client experience:

Alesya purchased a special Mother’s Day package, including a color analysisstyle assessment and makeup makeover, to surprise her Mom who was visiting. Her mom is now retired and not having to wear suits on a daily basis, which let’s face it, would throw any woman off when it comes to getting dressed. Changes in life bring changes in our wardrobe and style. It is something that has to be addressed, or you end up feeling overwhelmed. Alesya’s mom still wanted to look nice and put together, but wasn’t sure how to accomplish this with her new casual lifestyle.

We started by discussing her love of fashion, specific “looks” she was inspired by, as well as outfits she would never wear, all prompted by our style exercises and profiles. We went through MIC’s Pinterest style boards and defined the style she was now – Sporty – and the style she wanted to be – Elegant. After getting a solid grasp of her lifestyle and style goals, we moved on to the color consultation where we discovered the ideal colors and textures she should be wearing. She now has a small custom color kit to keep in her purse to refer to when she shops. We also went suggested ideas for accentuating her small waist and hourglass figure. After the consult, Alesya’s mom received an email with her coloring details, body type, style goals, store suggestions, tips, and examples. This way she had a feedback report of our consult and a starting point for developing her style.

Alesya sat with us during the consult and was kind enough to give us some great feedback:

  • “The follow up email from Megan is almost as valuable as the actual consultation!”
  • “Her whole life, my mom thought she had a triangle shaped body. Megan quickly informed her that she has a hourglass figure. Revelation!”
  • “The personalized color analysis was fantastic. Most surprising? The she looked better in shiny white than matte!”
  • “The Pinterest boards were SO helpful. It really made both me and my mom see she was dressing sporty while she wanted to dress elegantly. It also helped us see the difference between the two looks and what she was missing to transition from one look to the other.”

After my Color & Style Assessment, Kristin Pavo, owner of Finger Paint Makeup preformed a fabulous makeup consult.  Kristin went through all of her existing makeup, evaluating and discussing each product. She then gave product and several color suggestions. She put together three different looks for Alesya’s mom – giving variety without overwhelming her with too many options.

Alesya’s thoughts on Kristin’s consult:

  • “Kristin is, without question, the best make-up person we had ever met with. Her knowledge and love for the subject is second to none. She is a FIND!”
  • “The very next morning we got an email from Kristin with all her follow up suggestions. Amazing. My mom has already purchased several (if not all) of the items on her shopping list.”
  • “Every morning, my mom takes about 2 hours to get ready. I thought it was because of her perfectionist/high maintenance nature. It’s not! My mom really loves make-up – she said it brings out the artist in her. I had no idea. Kristin taught me something new about my own mother! Unbelievable.”

To Sum Up:

  • “Besides a new grandchild, it’s no exaggeration to say Megan and Kristin were the highlight of the year for my mom. And as the gift giver, I was thrilled to make her happy! Best Mother’s Day gift ever.”

We love helping our clients’ look and feel better about themselves, along with making their lives easier. The client feedback we receive is essential for us to maintain the value of our consultations. Thank you, Alesya, for kindly sharing your experience!

An FPM Makeover – Before & After Pics

1 Nov

I had an opportunity to spend an afternoon with a beautiful person, inside and out! A day filled with blushes, bronzers, shadows, brushes and makeup do’s and don’ts. Check out the before and after pics, along with a really amazing testimonial from Sarah covering our Consultation, Makeup-Bag Makeover and Professional Makeover using her very own makeup!

Thanks Sarah for allowing me into your world and into your makeup bag…I loved every minute of it.

Testimonial and Pictures:

Finger Paint Makeup Makeover and Makeup Bag Makeover

I walked through my living room and heard a “you look really nice, hon” from the direction of the couch. Trust me, at my house, this is huge, being that it was unsolicited. That was the first indication that something big had just happened. And then a friend came over about about a week later and said, “okay you look amazing – you really look beautiful, like you have a glow.” I smiled and thanked her and knew the glow was not only my updated makeup, but also the emotional boost I felt from spending time with Kristin during my Finger Paint Makeup (FPM) makeover.

It all started with a knock on the door and the dogs barking while my 6-month-old daughter cried to be picked up. I opened the door to Kristin looking casually gorgeous, with an excited smile on her face. This day had finally come! We were both really excited. We had planned to do a makeup bag makeover, as well as a mini makeover if we had time. We were determined to find the time. And somehow we did, in between entertaining, feeding and soothing my daughter, getting distracted by my husband’s cooking and other snacks we found, and more baby entertaining.

We started with the makeup bag makeover. Kristin asked me to show her all of my makeup (picture shown), so I grabbed the makeup bag that I use every day. She started pulling out each item and grouping them by type – foundation, blush, eye shadow, lipstick, mascara, brushes, etc. Then I remembered a few more pieces of makeup I had in a drawer, and later found some forgotten brushes. She seemed more excited with each product and tool I found (that I had never used). Once everything was organized and displayed in front of us, Kristin started going through each category, making a pile of things to throw away, and keeping those that were still fresh and worked with my skin tone. We tossed lipsticks that I never used, blushes that weren’t the right colors for my skin, a few crumbs of a bronzer I loved and a free-with-purchase mascara that I think was from the ’90’s…and smelled like it as Kristin pointed out!

Once the organizing was complete, we discussed what was left (picture shown). I was pleasantly surprised that between my own collection, and a few pointed purchases made on previous shopping trips with FPM, I already had most of the makeup I would need on a daily basis. I was out of liquid foundation, but Kristin pointed out that a Bare Minerals powder foundation I had forgotten about would be a good match for me this Fall. I thought I would need to purchase some lip gloss or eye liner, but Kristin told me that I already had some great options. We agreed that I needed a new concealer and fresh mascara, and discussed which brand and color we liked best so I could make a list and know exactly what I needed to purchase.

After a few more attempts to get the baby happily entertained again, we were ready to start my makeover! (Before picture shown) Kristin began by asking me which products, and in what order, I would use on a normal day. We talked through what I would use and then Kristin started my makeover. She showed me a new order to use when applying my makeup, and explained why it worked better than the way I had been using my products. I took notes and asked lots of questions! When we were done, I had a page to reference on what products to use for an everyday look, as well as how to streamline the steps for busier mornings. I also had two diagrams of new eye makeup applications to practice. We worked through one together, and talked through the other so I’d be comfortable practicing it on my own.

After Pictures

When we finished up for the day, Kristin left me with some homework…clean my makeup brushes, buy the new products we discussed, and practice my updated application routine and eye makeup. That night I proudly texted her a picture of all my makeup brushes laid out to dry after having been cleaned and sanitized as we discussed. And over the next few days I kept the page with my makeup steps tucked into my freshly cleaned and organized makeup bag (picture shown) as I worked to make Kristin’s suggested routine my own. I periodically texted her pictures of my new eye makeup looks as I practiced them, and she patiently told me how to tweak my application to improve the look. Eventually I got around to buying a new concealer and mascara, and I can tell a big difference between the new and old products!

I had so much fun spending an afternoon with Kristin on my makeovers. I patiently worked through my homework and can’t even describe the little thrill I get when I know I did a good job applying my makeup – its a confidence boost I never expected but desperately needed. I now know how to use each product and tool in my makeup bag (a first for me!), and why I apply each product in the order that I do. I can also do a pretty good smoky eye and know how to give myself an instant eye lift. You want in? Get your makeover scheduled!!
