Guest Post: Products We’re Thankful For!

16 Dec
This weeks Guest Post is from Michelle.  Michelle is a busy Mother of two, and one of the most creative people I have ever know.  She’s the type of person that sends you a beautifully put together, colorful, thoughtful letter on homemade stationary.  You get a card from her and you think to yourself…”Hallmark who?”  I’m telling you she’s amazing, and has more energy than most five-year olds I know.  If she was a super hero, I’d imagine the headlines in the paper would read something like “She does it again folks – the speedy creativity’s of Lady Lightspeed”.  She has always been the type of person that uses her creativity in many ways….from knitting you a beautiful scarf to whipping together a batch of holiday cookies too stunning to eat!  She has always been a girly girl, and shares a passion for makeup.  I can say from the very bottom of my heart that Michelle is a truly amazing woman…she’s inspiring, uplifting, and beautiful inside and out.  Check out her hilarious, creative writing style on her Blog:
Thanks Michelle, for giving us a peek into your world of makeup, and a product you’re thankful for!

I walk through the makeup department of Macy’s.
Colors, textures, sparkle and shine.
My fingers lightly caress the glass cases as they drag behind my slow, walking gait.
Intense desire.
Endless possibilities.
Longing…
Then…CRASH!
“uh oh,” quietly exclaims my 2 year-old daughter.
I turn my head to discover she has successfully torn down multiple pieces of jewelry from the neighboring aisle display.
I’m a 31 year-old SAHM {that’s a cool-person’s lingo for: stay at home mom}.
I can barely remember the last time I spent any significant amount of money on my myself, never mind makeup purchases.
This is not a lack of wanting…because I do!
It’s just that my priorities have shifted since becoming a mom.
When preggo {some more cool lingo} with my first child, I determined in my heart two things:

1.  I will not “let myself go.”

2.  I will never wear “mom-jeans”.

Two and a half years later, I’m proud to say I’m currently succeeding.  {fingers crossed!}
Although, I’m not as high-maintenanced as I once was – I hope people, in the outside world beyond my door-steps, would consider me a woman of poise, style and fashion!  I maintain my hairstyle and wardrobe as best a mom, of 2 under 2, can.  Including my makeup.
There is one product without which I could not live during my {hectic} “mommy” days.
Like I said – my days are hectic.  My main priority, in this stage of my life, is to care for my young family.
This leaves me with little time to make myself look presentable.  With that product, I am able to quickly “spot correct” all my blemishes to allude that my skin is flawless.  {Which, let’s face it, it’s not.  These post-baby hormones have wreaked havoc on my skin’s clarity!}  I also use it as an under-eye concealer for an instant wake-up call!  {good morning, beautiful mama!}  My tired eyes are lifted and fooling the masses into believing I just received a full night’s rest in which I never once had to attempt to calm a 2 year-old’s nightmare scares OR tend to a baby boy’s midnight feeding frenzies {of, course I didn’t…can’t you tell by my bright eyes?  hmmm…??}  After the concealer, a few coats of mascara, some color swept across my cheeks, lips puckered with some gloss {and a few more than 2 cups of coffee}…I’m then ready to conquer my day!  It’s fast, easy, and stays put all day.  It’s exactly what I need in this life!
Juice box spills, poopy diapers, out-of-control tantrums, and spit-up stains…here I come!!
Who knew a little thing like concealer could make one feel so victorious over one’s obstacles?!?
