An FPM Makeover – Before & After Pics

1 Nov

I had an opportunity to spend an afternoon with a beautiful person, inside and out! A day filled with blushes, bronzers, shadows, brushes and makeup do’s and don’ts. Check out the before and after pics, along with a really amazing testimonial from Sarah covering our Consultation, Makeup-Bag Makeover and Professional Makeover using her very own makeup!

Thanks Sarah for allowing me into your world and into your makeup bag…I loved every minute of it.

Testimonial and Pictures:

Finger Paint Makeup Makeover and Makeup Bag Makeover

I walked through my living room and heard a “you look really nice, hon” from the direction of the couch. Trust me, at my house, this is huge, being that it was unsolicited. That was the first indication that something big had just happened. And then a friend came over about about a week later and said, “okay you look amazing – you really look beautiful, like you have a glow.” I smiled and thanked her and knew the glow was not only my updated makeup, but also the emotional boost I felt from spending time with Kristin during my Finger Paint Makeup (FPM) makeover.

It all started with a knock on the door and the dogs barking while my 6-month-old daughter cried to be picked up. I opened the door to Kristin looking casually gorgeous, with an excited smile on her face. This day had finally come! We were both really excited. We had planned to do a makeup bag makeover, as well as a mini makeover if we had time. We were determined to find the time. And somehow we did, in between entertaining, feeding and soothing my daughter, getting distracted by my husband’s cooking and other snacks we found, and more baby entertaining.

We started with the makeup bag makeover. Kristin asked me to show her all of my makeup (picture shown), so I grabbed the makeup bag that I use every day. She started pulling out each item and grouping them by type – foundation, blush, eye shadow, lipstick, mascara, brushes, etc. Then I remembered a few more pieces of makeup I had in a drawer, and later found some forgotten brushes. She seemed more excited with each product and tool I found (that I had never used). Once everything was organized and displayed in front of us, Kristin started going through each category, making a pile of things to throw away, and keeping those that were still fresh and worked with my skin tone. We tossed lipsticks that I never used, blushes that weren’t the right colors for my skin, a few crumbs of a bronzer I loved and a free-with-purchase mascara that I think was from the ’90’s…and smelled like it as Kristin pointed out!

Once the organizing was complete, we discussed what was left (picture shown). I was pleasantly surprised that between my own collection, and a few pointed purchases made on previous shopping trips with FPM, I already had most of the makeup I would need on a daily basis. I was out of liquid foundation, but Kristin pointed out that a Bare Minerals powder foundation I had forgotten about would be a good match for me this Fall. I thought I would need to purchase some lip gloss or eye liner, but Kristin told me that I already had some great options. We agreed that I needed a new concealer and fresh mascara, and discussed which brand and color we liked best so I could make a list and know exactly what I needed to purchase.

After a few more attempts to get the baby happily entertained again, we were ready to start my makeover! (Before picture shown) Kristin began by asking me which products, and in what order, I would use on a normal day. We talked through what I would use and then Kristin started my makeover. She showed me a new order to use when applying my makeup, and explained why it worked better than the way I had been using my products. I took notes and asked lots of questions! When we were done, I had a page to reference on what products to use for an everyday look, as well as how to streamline the steps for busier mornings. I also had two diagrams of new eye makeup applications to practice. We worked through one together, and talked through the other so I’d be comfortable practicing it on my own.

After Pictures

When we finished up for the day, Kristin left me with some homework…clean my makeup brushes, buy the new products we discussed, and practice my updated application routine and eye makeup. That night I proudly texted her a picture of all my makeup brushes laid out to dry after having been cleaned and sanitized as we discussed. And over the next few days I kept the page with my makeup steps tucked into my freshly cleaned and organized makeup bag (picture shown) as I worked to make Kristin’s suggested routine my own. I periodically texted her pictures of my new eye makeup looks as I practiced them, and she patiently told me how to tweak my application to improve the look. Eventually I got around to buying a new concealer and mascara, and I can tell a big difference between the new and old products!

I had so much fun spending an afternoon with Kristin on my makeovers. I patiently worked through my homework and can’t even describe the little thrill I get when I know I did a good job applying my makeup – its a confidence boost I never expected but desperately needed. I now know how to use each product and tool in my makeup bag (a first for me!), and why I apply each product in the order that I do. I can also do a pretty good smoky eye and know how to give myself an instant eye lift. You want in? Get your makeover scheduled!!
